FACIALS
When was the last time you treated yourself to a facial?
A facial is a great way to treat your skin. Having regular facials will help you achieve a clear complexion and a nice glow.
A facial is a treatment to the face and neck and is carried out for the following reasons:
- To improve the appearance of the skin.
- To balance out problems of the skin.
- To deep cleanse the skin.
- To help improve muscle tone.
- To speed up cell renewal therefore helping to slow down the ageing process.
- To keep the skin soft by removing dead skin cells.
There are a variety of factors which can affect the appearance and condition of the skin, most of which can lead to premature ageing. e.g Uv rays, free radicals, stress, smoking, caffeine, alcohol and medication. By having regular facials you will learn how you can look after your skin.
During a facial you will be treated to a superficial cleanse, skin analasis, deep cleanse using products to match your skin type, exfoliation, either steam or hot towels to warm the skin, extractions if needed, facial massage, mask, tone and moisturise.
There is an option to have PARAFFIN WAX incorporated into the facial, which is good for dry or dehydrated skin, mature skin will be regenerated, sluggish skins will benefit from increased circulation and uneven skin textures will benefit from this treatment, although a paraffin wax facial is NOT recommended if you are claustrophonic or have extremely sensitive, vascular skins, not for people who have lots of broken capillaries and not on sunburnt skin.
The effects and benefits of a Paraffin Wax mask is:
- Increases circulation to the area therefore bringing fresh oxygen and nutrients to the skin tissues.
- Encourges deeper penetration of any product prior to the paraffin wax, thus aiding dry skin conditions.
- Relaxes and warms the muscles and tissues.
- Aids desquamation.
- Produces erythema.
- Induces a feeling of relaxation.
- Soothes the sensory nerve endings.
- Encourages the skin to perspire flushing out any impurities and therefore having a deep cleansing effect.
- Soothes and softens the skin.
FACIAL MASSAGE is an important part of the facial treatment. This is usually the part the client looks forward to.
The effects and benefits of massage:
- Relaxes the client psychologically (in their mind).
- Aids desquamation.
- Increased blood circulation in the area improves the colour of the skin.
- Increased blood flow to the area brings fresh oxygen and nutrients and removes waste products. The blood nourishes the skin cells and encourages them to reproduce.
- Due to the blood circulation being increased, the tissues become warm which encourages the tissues to relax.
- Stimulation of the lymphatic circulation helps tp remove waste products and toxins from the area. This helps to reduce puffiness.
- Stimulation increases the temperature of the skin, which relaxes the pores and follicles aiding deeper absorption of the massage medium.
- Stimulation of the sebaceous and sweat glands increase the production of sebum and sweat which has a deep cleansing effect on the skin and helps to maintain the skins natural oil and moisture balance.
- Sensory nerve endings are soothed or stimulated depending on the massage technique used.
